Meet the Team
Jasmine Welcome, LICSW provides virtual therapeutic services across the life span and consulting services including speaking engagements, workshops, program development and clinical trainings. Her clinical journey began as a theraputic mentor and grew to school-based, healthcare, and community settings. She founded Roots Unraveled in April 2020 in direct response to the mental health crisis unfolding at the intersection of a global pandemic and long-standing systemic inequities. As the pandemic laid bare deep disparities in access to care and resources for communities of color, she answered with Roots Unraveled.
Her commitment to social change is embedded in community engagement as an active member of Friends of the Children Young Professionals Board, Girl Scouts (lifetime member), YW Lead Boston’25 and The Greater Boston Association of Black Social Workers. Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in experiencing live music, exploring diverse culinary experiences, and cherishing quality time with loved ones.

Yanelis Ortiz, LCSW
Yanelis is a bilingual, first-generation therapist. She brings a culturally responsive and compassionate approach to her work with adults, children and families. She understands the challenges of navigating multiple identities, languages, and expectations, therefore she strives to create a safe, affirming space where both clients, children and caregivers feel seen and supported. She completed her clinical internship as a school-based therapist, which deepened her understanding of how emotional, behavioral, and academic needs intersect in a child’s life. Her practice is rooted in trauma-informed care, along with evidence-based modalities like CBT, play therapy and mindfulness. She supports children in building emotional regulation skills, confidence, and healthy relationships, while working closely with families is strengthening their communication and connection. She has clinical experience helpin children navigate anxiety, adjustment disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and family separations. Whether she is helping a child find their voice, supporting an individual through personal healing, or walking alongside a family in transition, she honors each story by holding space with care—trusting each client as the expert of their own journey, and offering warmth, cultural humility, and an open heart.
